Square Enix Will Bring More Games To Xbox After Final Fantasy 14's Success

As a long-time fan of Square Enix and Final Fantasy series, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement hearing about their renewed commitment to Xbox! Having spent countless hours immersed in the fantastical worlds they’ve created, it’s heartening to see more gamers getting the chance to experience these epic tales.

Due to a robust reception of Final Fantasy XIV on Xbox, it appears that Square Enix is dedicated to unveiling additional games from their catalog on this console. However, Naoki Yoshida, the director and producer of the MMO, did not provide any concrete hints about what other titles might be coming next for the Xbox Series X|S.

Eurogamer recently spoke with Yoshida at Gamescom, where they discussed the success of Final Fantasy XIV on Xbox since its full release in March. Yoshida shared that they’ve been pleased with the game’s reception on Xbox, noting that communities have started forming and are now expanding.

In addition to Final Fantasy XIV’s achievements on Xbox, Yoshida highlighted a new multiplatform strategy that Square Enix announced in May. Essentially, they are now focusing on making their games available across multiple platforms. As Final Fantasy XIV serves as the launching pad for this initiative, they aim to release more Square Enix games on Xbox, and there will be additional titles coming to Xbox as well.

Most popular fantasy role-playing games have debuted exclusively on the PlayStation 5. For instance, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was launched earlier this year and can only be played on Sony’s platform. Conversely, Final Fantasy XVI was released last year on PS5 but will make its way to PC on September 17.
