Spotted: Timothée Chalamet Getting His Ping-Ping On for Marty Supreme

As a long-time sports enthusiast who’s seen it all, from Wimbledon to the U.S. Open and even dabbled in a pickleball tournament or two (okay, maybe just one), I must say I’m intrigued by Timothée Chalamet‘s latest project, “Marty Supreme.” It’s not every day you see a movie about ping-pong, especially when it involves the legendary Marty Reisman!

Actor Timothée Chalamet is going to appear in Josh Safdie’s first standalone movie, titled “Marty Supreme“, which is speculated to be a dramatized biography of table tennis legend Marty Reisman. Compared to other ball-based sports, ping-pong lags behind tennis and pickleball in popularity. Tennis maintains its allure with events like “Challengers” and impersonators at the U.S. Open, while pickleball enjoys support from Home Owners Associations, Target, and Stephen Colbert. Ping-pong has yet to experience a cultural resurgence since the movie “Balls of Fury“, if you can even call that a significant event. Here’s what we currently know about “Marty Supreme“, including details on which member of the comedy group “Loiter Squad” will be making their feature film debut. It won’t be Jasper Dolphin, though.

What is Marty Supreme about?

As a dedicated cinephile, I’ve heard whispers about the storyline for “Marty Supreme,” but nothing’s been officially confirmed yet. It’s rumored to center around Marty Reisman, a Ping-Pong maestro who’s known far beyond the paddle world. This legend amassed five bronze medals at the World Table Tennis Championships, an event that remains vibrant and active today.

E! News had pics of Chalamet on set looking “unrecognizable,” but folks on Twitter recognized him as Walt Disney, Leon Trotsky, and Arthur’s teacher Mr. Ratburn.

Who is getting their Ping-Pong on?

In addition to Timmy, Marty Supreme will feature Gwyneth Paltrow and Tyler the Creator. It’s Tyler’s film debut, while Paltrow is making a comeback after a five-year hiatus from films. Despite being busy with ski competitions, strange houseguests, and The Politician, she never seems to slow down. And let’s not forget about The Politician – it’s always a big deal!
