In today’s Nintendo Direct presentation, Nintendo and Hazelight revealed that the hit cooperative game Split Fiction will be available on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Originally launched in February 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, Split Fiction will now debut as a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2 in June.
Similar to Hazelight’s past titles A Way Out and It Takes Two, Split Fiction operates exclusively as a cooperative game. Notably, it’s possible for players to enjoy the game without individually purchasing it.
In its debut week, Split Fiction managed to sell 2 million copies, but it still needs to make significant strides to match the success of It Takes Two, which has sold an impressive 23 million copies. Interestingly enough, Split Fiction’s production costs were nearly twice as much as those for It Takes Two.
A movie titled “Split Fiction” was announced in March, yet game director Josef Fares expresses uncertainty as to whether it will actually be produced. Meanwhile, the team at Hazelight has started work on their next video game, but they’re keeping the details under wraps for the time being.
