Spike Lee Says ‘Highest 2 Lowest’ Will Premiere at Cannes Film Festival After Not Being Part of Lineup Announcement

Spike Lee is personally handling the news that his upcoming movie “Highest 2 Lowest” will debut at the Cannes Film Festival.

Approximately an hour and a half following the unveiling of the festival’s schedule, Lee shared on Instagram that “Highest 2 Lowest” would not be performing.

Good day! Good morning! What’s happening? The new Spike Lee joint, ‘Highest 2 Lowest,’ starring my brother Denzel Washington, has been invited to the 2025 Cannes International Film Festival in the Out of Competition category. Here’s a sneak peek with the festival patch!”

Lee wrote this caption under a photo showing a patch that says “Highest 2 Lowest 2 Cannes.

As a movie enthusiast, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the announcement about Denzel Washington’s film “Highest 2 Lowest,” directed by Lee, in this year’s festival lineup. However, it seems that every festival has its share of films that get unveiled after the initial press conference. So, while I eagerly anticipate the official news on Thursday, I remain hopeful and patient.

During a light-hearted exchange at Thursday’s press conference, the artistic director of Cannes, Thierry Fremaux, jokingly admitted receiving a text suggesting he might have overlooked a film – possibly alluding to Spike Lee.
