Oren Uziel, a co-showrunner on Spider-Noir, hinted that Marvel is developing many more Spider-Man projects in secret. He explained that the series starring Nicolas Cage is just the first step in a larger plan to explore different versions of Spider-Man in surprising and unique genres.
Oren Uziel says several unannounced Spider-Man projects are in works
Oren Uziel, a co-showrunner on ‘Spider-Noir,’ has revealed that several new Spider-Man spin-off projects featuring different versions of the character are currently being worked on. He shared this news in the latest issue of SFX Magazine, which will be available on April 22nd.
Uziel is currently concentrating on Spider-Noir, but he’s aware of other Spider-Verse projects happening. He’s spoken with the teams developing those projects and feels they’re looking very promising.
I was really excited to hear what Uziel had to say! He didn’t get into specifics about any particular movies or shows, but he did explain the general idea behind what they’re planning. Basically, they’re taking familiar genres and making them even better by adding a different version of Spider-Man. He thinks it’ll open up a lot of cool possibilities, and honestly, it sounds amazing!
Sony is working on several movies based on characters from the Spider-Man universe. They’ve announced a Spider-Punk film planned for 2025, starring Daniel Kaluuya, and a Spider-Gwen movie is also reportedly in the works.
The animated series Spider-Noir features Nicolas Cage as a troubled private detective who used to be a superhero named the Spider. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are producing the show, but according to creator Uziel, it isn’t connected to the story from the Spider-Verse movies.
He explained that the character in the show is different from the versions seen in the comics and animated movie. He noted he’d seen the high school years of Peter Parker portrayed many times before, and described this live-action take as a version of a version – a significant departure from previous iterations.
Spider-Noir arrives on Prime Video on May 27.
