Spider-Man is about to transform into one of the scariest Marvel characters of all time.
Marvel is launching a new crossover event featuring Spider-Man, Venom, and Carnage called ‘Death Spiral.’ It kicks off with a special one-shot issue, ‘Amazing Spider-Man/Venom: Death Spiral,’ hitting shelves next month, and will continue in the regular ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ and ‘Venom’ comic books throughout the spring.
Okay, so get this – the next big Spider-Man storyline, “Death Spiral,” looks intense. Apparently, Peter Parker, Mary Jane (who’s become the new Venom, which is wild!), and even Eddie Brock as Carnage are all being hunted by this seriously powerful killer called Torment. It’s being written by a fantastic team – Joe Kelly, Al Ewing, and Charles Soule – and the art’s in the hands of Ed McGuinness, Carlos Gómez, and Jesús Saíz. I’m already hyped for this one!
What is Spider-Man about to transform into?
Okay, Marvel just dropped the cover art for Amazing Spider-Man #27, and it’s wild! This issue wraps up the ‘Death Spiral’ storyline, and the cover, illustrated by McGuiness, shows something we’ve never seen before: Spider-Man and Carnage…fusing together! Yes, you read that right. It looks like Peter Parker and the seriously villainous Carnage are becoming one being – the ‘Amazing Spider-Carnage.’ It’s a genuinely shocking image and definitely has me hyped to see how this plays out.
Amazing Spider-Man #27 goes on sale on April 22, 2026. Check out the cover below:
According to Marvel editor Nick Lowe, the upcoming ‘Death Spiral’ storyline is set to be a thrilling and shocking event for Spider-Man and Venom fans. The story will reveal that Mary Jane Watson has unexpectedly bonded with one of Spider-Man’s enemies, while Eddie Brock has teamed up with the dangerous symbiote, Carnage. To make matters worse, they’ll all face an even more terrifying threat in the form of the villain, Torment, leaving everyone vulnerable.
Soule explained that Spider-Man, Venom, Carnage, and Mary Jane function like a strange, yet deeply connected family, sharing a significant history. He believes this creates a strong foundation with a lot of emotional weight, making it difficult to simply dismantle their relationships.
Death Spiral begins on February 25, 2026, with Amazing Spider-Man/Venom: Death Spiral #1.
