Rumors are circulating about how Marvel might finally bring Spider-Man and Daredevil together in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The reports suggest Marvel is carefully building towards their first on-screen team-up, laying the foundation with details hidden within current shows and movies. While the specifics are still secret, it seems preparations are already underway.
How Spider-Man and Daredevil’s live-action team up could be in MCU
According to a report from The Cosmic Circus, Spider-Man and Daredevil could team up in a future Marvel Cinematic Universe movie or series, thanks to the way Marvel is connecting its stories.
Peter Parker and Matt Murdock crossed paths in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but due to the circumstances, Murdock probably doesn’t recall their encounter. However, future storylines could create opportunities for Spider-Man and Daredevil to officially meet and work together.
Perez explained that certain story elements will be integrated into the current project and will also have an impact on future seasons of ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’ This suggests a connected storyline across these projects, rather than just a one-time team-up.
Perez hinted at how Daredevil and Spider-Man’s first meeting as heroes might unfold, suggesting fans look to the dynamic between Spider-Man and other heroes in the animated series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man for a good idea of what to expect. This implies their team-up and any potential conflicts will likely feel familiar to existing Marvel stories.
Currently, it’s challenging for characters to move between Marvel movies and Disney+ TV shows. As Marvel Studios’ Brad Perez explained, getting Spider-Man to appear in shows like Daredevil: Born Again has proven difficult due to a lack of agreement. This means we’ll probably see team-ups between characters more often in movies than on streaming series.
The direction of Spider-Man’s story in upcoming Marvel events like Doomsday and Secret Wars is being guided by collaboration between Disney and Marvel. According to Perez, Sony is primarily supporting the creative plans of the Russo brothers. This shows that overall Marvel Cinematic Universe planning is impacting how Spider-Man appears in these stories, and could eventually lead to a major crossover event featuring Spider-Man and Daredevil that fits into the larger MCU narrative.
Fans are wondering if Daredevil will be in the next Spider-Man movie. While the actor who plays Daredevil, Charlie Cox, has said he won’t be in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it’s possible he’s intentionally misleading everyone, similar to how Andrew Garfield kept his appearance in a previous Spider-Man film a secret. Spider-Man: Brand New Day comes out on July 31st.
