As a lifelong Marvel fan who has witnessed the evolution of the Spider-Man character since his comic book debut, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement at the prospect of Tom Holland returning to the big screen as our friendly neighborhood wall-crawler in Spider-Man 4. Having grown up with the original trilogy starring Toby Maguire and then witnessing the reboot with Andrew Garfield, it’s incredible to see the character continue to evolve and adapt with the times.
Previously this autumn, Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton began negotiations for directing Spider-Man 4, and eventually finalized his contract with Sony and Marvel. Currently, the next MCU Spider-Man film featuring Tom Holland has scheduled a release date in 2026, approximately five years after Spider-Man: No Way Home was shown in cinemas.
Title for Spider-Man 4 remains undisclosed, but it’s set to hit theaters on July 24, 2026 – approximately two months following the premiere of Avengers: Doomsday (May 1, 2026). Although Marvel and Sony haven’t confirmed Tom Holland’s appearance in both films, his participation seems likely given that his second Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Far From Home, was released shortly after Avengers: Endgame in 2019.
It’s not yet clear who else might star in Spider-Man 4, as only Tom Holland has been officially confirmed to return. However, recent hints suggest that Zendaya, Holland’s co-star in the Spider-Man series, may reprise her role as MJ, even though her character lost her memory of Peter Parker in No Way Home.
In a recent chat with Zendaya, Tom Holland shared, “Three weeks ago, I read the script for Spider-Man 4. It sparked such excitement in me!” They both jumped around their living room, exclaiming, “This is a film fans will truly appreciate!” However, there are some details we still need to work out before we can fully bring it to life.
Later in the week, Holland recently appeared on The Tonight Show and shared that production for Spider-Man 4 is set to start in England around mid-2025.
