Last week, there was a significant 8.0 update for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, introducing features like the highly anticipated horde mode. The developers have big plans for this game’s future and recently disclosed details about what we might see in the upcoming months.
Space Marine 2’s second year of development
To start off, the news broke out that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will continue receiving updates for another year.
- This will include both updates and paid expansions. These DLCs will be part of the second annual season pass.
- Full plans will be revealed in due time, but the developers promise new PvE missions, new types of enemies and weapons, and other surprises.
- The second year of the game’s development will kick off in September, along with the first anniversary of Space Marine 2. Then the major 10.0 update will appear.

Patch 10.0 with new PvP mode
Due to some unexpected adjustments, the developers have had to revise their initial blueprint. The anticipated Player versus Player (PvP) mode, which was originally scheduled for the 9.0 update, has been postponed to 10.0. Consequently, patch 9.0 will primarily focus on balancing enhancements instead.
The devs also revealed the first specifics about this new PvP mode.
- We’ll be battling other players on a new map designed specifically for these kinds of matches.
- In the current version of the competition, the loyal Emperor’s Space Marines fight against their former brothers who have succumbed to the influence of Chaos. However, in the new PvP mode, two groups of Chaos supporters will face off against each other.
- We will also receive new Chaos armors, as well as the ability to control Helbrutes, which is a version of Dreadnought belonging to the forces of Chaos.
- Patch 10.0 will also bring a new type of weapon in the form of Power Axe.
The sequel to Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, titled Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, was made available for purchase on September 9, 2024, across multiple platforms including PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
Currently, you can grab the game during the Summer Sale on Steam at a reduced price of $35.99. This represents a 40% savings compared to its regular cost. Keep in mind that this deal ends on July 10th.
