‘South Park’ to Return in 2025; Creators Are Skipping Election ‘on Purpose,’ Avoiding Trump Jokes and Also ‘Waiting for Paramount to Figure Their S— Out’

In a recent chat with Vanity Fair, the creators of “South Park”, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, shared that the popular animated series won’t be back until 2025. This timing means that the show will miss out on portraying the 2024 presidential election between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. The duo mentioned that the break is somewhat intentional, as they have lost enthusiasm for satirizing Trump on the show. However, Parker also noted that they’re waiting for Paramount to sort out their internal matters before resuming production

The proposed sale was not made by Skydance, but rather by Paramount Global. In this case, the value is $8 billion. This means that the proposed sale should be worth a reported value of $8 billion

Speaking as a cinema enthusiast, I must admit that intentionally missing the 2024 presidential election feels like a daunting task. Just think about how we’ve navigated “South Park” through multiple presidential elections – it’s an exhausting mental workout! It appears that these events tend to overshadow everything else, and they seem to demand an outsized share of our attention

“Clearly, it’s quite significant, yet it tends to consume everything, leaving us with fewer enjoyable moments,” Parker explained. “We’ve run out of words when it comes to discussing Trump.”

The most recent complete season of “South Park” was its 26th, and this season had six episodes that aired in the year 2023. Following this, Trey Parker and Matt Stone have produced three unique specials, which were exclusively available on Paramount+ from last fall: “South Park: Joining the Panderverse”, “South Park (Not Suitable for Children)”, and “South Park: The End of Obesity”. The latter special, focusing on weight loss drugs like Ozempic, was streamed in May 2024. It appears that this will be the last “South Park” content until 2025
