As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming experiences under my belt, I must say that SEGA’s latest release, Sonic X Shadow Generations, has truly taken me by surprise. Having grown up with the classic Sonic games, it’s a delight to see the franchise evolving while still retaining its core essence.
SEGA, a renowned Japanese game developer and publisher, has seen unprecedented success recently thanks to hits like Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Persona 3 Reload, and the latest addition, Metaphor: ReFantazio. To add to their excitement, Sonic X Shadow Generations was also released by their team Sonic, which in just under a week has already hit an impressive new peak.
Lately, they shared a press statement celebrating that Sonic X Shadow Generations has sold over one million units worldwide, a significant milestone for the action platformer series. This game is the second installment featuring the gritty protagonist Shadow the Hedgehog; players can alternate between Shadow’s storyline in Shadow Generations or enjoy playing as Classic and Modern Sonic from Sonic Generations remaster at any time.
25th October 2024 saw the release of Sonic X Shadow Generations for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles – a package deal that offered diverse gaming experiences, including the Sonic Generations Remastered. As a gamer, I found myself dashing through speed-running stages as both Classic and Modern Sonic, but it’s the new storyline in Shadow the Hedgehog where the real excitement lies. With Black Doom breathing down my neck, I must navigate through unique and familiar stages and battles from past Sonic games in a race against time to ultimately vanquish this menacing foe.
The Sonic X Shadow Generations game has now sold over a million copies, thanks to all of your ongoing and unwavering support!

Alongside the fresh tale in this ‘action-packed, high-speed platformer’, the development crew has also included multi-language support to appeal to a broader international audience. The game is now available globally on various platforms all at once. Additionally, it’s teaming up with the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie by offering the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack DLC starting from 12th December 2024. This extra content includes the Tokyo stage map and features Keanu Reeves lending his voice to the main character.
Players have until December 20th, 2024 to obtain the “Platinum” version of Sonic X Shadow Generations and experience the Tokyo stage alongside the film version of Shadow, when the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack DLC is released. Unfortunately, this DLC is only available with the Digital Deluxe Edition of Sonic X Shadow Generations and cannot be purchased separately. However, pre-orders for the Digital Deluxe Edition on their preferred platform are currently available.
