After a contentious victory at the Anime Awards, Solo Leveling has surpassed all other anime series to hold the title of Crunchyroll’s most popular show.
At a Fireside Chat held on June 13th, Sony announced that by March 2025, Solo Leveling will hold the record for the most-watched anime on Crunchyroll to date.
At present, the series boasts an impressive 4.9 score on the popular anime streaming website, based on a massive 813,200 user reviews. It holds the number one spot in their most-watched category, outranking fan favorites like One Piece and Demon Slayer.
It’s worth noting that the anime in question outperformed other well-known series such as Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Apothecary Diaries, and Dandadan in the anime awards, which has sparked debates among numerous anime enthusiasts.
Beyond its initial success, Solo Leveling’s fame continues to grow with the creation of a gacha game, Solo Leveling: Arise, and the upcoming action RPG, Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE, slated for release in 2025.
So, when is season 3?
Although Solo Leveling season 3 hasn’t been officially scheduled yet due to its massive popularity, Aniplex producer Sota Furuhashi expressed his preference for allowing the animators some additional time before releasing it. If he were in charge, he suggested waiting until the next Olympics in 2028 to unveil what might transpire with season 3.
Indeed, it’s not definitive that fans must endure such a lengthy wait. Keep in mind though, season 2 was aired just one year following the debut of season 1. Therefore, given this pattern, it seems reasonable to expect season 3 to be released around 2026.
2021 saw Solo Leveling gain significant attention as it won four prestigious awards at the Anime Awards, including Anime of the Year and Best Debut Anime Series. As reported by Kakao Entertainment, a major South Korean publishing company for entertainment, the global viewership count for the webtoon adaptation surpassed 14.3 billion in the year 2024.
Back in early 2024, the buzz surrounding this series escalated to such an extent that it eventually paved the way for its official anime adaptation. A-1 Pictures, a renowned Japanese animation studio, took the reins and brought this show to life. Ever since its debut on January 7, 2024, I’ve been hooked on this electrifying power fantasy – Sung Jinwoo’s journey from level to level and his stylish takedowns of foes have captivated millions, including myself!
However, with the release of Season 2, Solo Leveling has cemented itself at the top.
