Solo indie dungeon crawler RPG Path of the Abyss’ full release is now available on PC via Steam

Independent game creator, Suzuki Suzuzou, has made the complete edition of “Path of the Abyss” accessible to players. This single-player role-playing game with a dungeon crawling theme is now fully playable on PC through Steam.

Starting from December 2023, this standalone project was accessible through Early Access. Following numerous improvements and adjustments, it’s now officially launched as its 1.0 version. The latest full release introduces fresh character portraits and a credits sequence when you complete the game. Additionally, it incorporates Steam Achievements for the first time, offering 10 achievements to be unlocked during gameplay.

Path of the Abyss is a single-player, grid-based dungeon exploration RPG.

In simpler terms, you journey through dungeon sketches done in black and white, using a character you’ve personally tailored, with the objective of reaching the lowest, most challenging level.

Combat operates in real time.

At your leisure, you’re able to take breaks to assess your opponents’ strategies, bolster your teammates, counterattack the enemies, and implement various strategies to secure an edge.

You’ll have insight into the enemy’s plans. It’s crucial to respond effectively using the right set of skills.

Basically, you want to…

  1. Pause and see how the enemy intends to attack.
  2. Choose the appropriate skills.
  3. Unpause.

Combat will be done by repeating these steps.

Before engaging in combat, the skills you wish to utilize will be arranged on a “Grid” or “Layout”, composed of nine separate sections. This setup is known as the “Formation Panel”.

The result of battle can significantly depend on both the abilities you assign and their placement within your Battle Layout.

In this game, it’s the turn of the party to utilize the distinct Feature called the Formation Panel, which requires players to strategize and find creative uses for the limited number of panels available.

*Character Builds*

You can build a character by customizing 8 abilities, 5 basic stats, skills and gear.

*Party Build*

You build the party by setting up skills of the characters into the Formation Panel.

In a harmonious setup, certain abilities work together effectively, so it’s ideal to arrange the Skill Interface such that the skills enhance or support one another.

*Exploration*

In the game “Path of the Abyss”, you delve into a vast world built around a colossal dungeon and various smaller ones.

Explore the secrets hidden within the dungeons, enhance your heroes, and journey towards the heart of the dungeon’s depths.

*Story*

A small ruin in East Weltden.

Frequent encounters with fearsome monsters were reported in an abandoned structure, which had been plundered numerous times.

Others dismissed the sightings as just rumors, but bravely entered the ruins to show off their bravery. Unfortunately, they were never seen or heard from again.

The Lord of East Weltden dispatched an investigation team but it only resulted in a bloodbath.

Rumors of this ruin traveled far and wide, luring skilled adventurers to the land.
