In simpler terms, they’ve boosted the abilities of one character in Overwatch 2 who excels at long-range attacks, making it more straightforward for players to select and utilize this hero efficiently.
In Overwatch 2, where there are numerous characters and skills, developers frequently introduce updates, such as adjusting balances, to keep the game exciting. These modifications often aim to change the current play style or metagame, since certain characters may become less effective due to nerfs, while others may see a boost in popularity.
Examining the update from March 25 in Season 15, character Mauga experienced considerable reductions, whereas Roadhog’s maximum healing was increased significantly. Furthermore, various damage-dealing characters also underwent adjustments.
In this latest update, some of the hits have not only been performing well but also enjoying tasty choices, such as one that was previously considered less impressive over time.
New update just made it easier for players to hit their shots with Soldier 76
In the most recent update, developers altered Soldier 76’s Heavy Pulse Rifle. Now, his main attack fires a bigger bullet, about 0.07 meters in size, that helps players hit their targets more frequently and reliably.

Soldier: 76 isn’t necessarily a poor hero, but compared to other Damage Per Second (DPS) characters and hitscan heroes, others tend to perform better. His ultimate ability can be easily disrupted, making it necessary to have good positioning or rely on teammates’ abilities for survival. Despite having a reasonable pick rate, the 49% or less win rate across all ranks, as shown on Overbuff, is not particularly impressive.
In summary, he’s quite approachable to play due to his forgiving style, but characters such as Sojourn offer more versatility with their enhanced mobility and burst potential. On the other hand, Soldier 76 might find it challenging to bring opponents from full health to zero, particularly if precision in rocket aiming is an issue for you.
With his bullet size being increased (or “buffed”), there’s a higher chance that players might start using him soon. This could particularly benefit those who are new to the game or have lower skill levels, as they will find it easier to play with him. However, even advanced players in high elo can still be very accurate with their shots due to better movement skills, making them consistent with this character as well.
Using larger ammunition would make it simpler to deplete an opponent’s health and prevent them from restoring it via their passive regeneration ability.
