If you’ve played the initial Death Stranding, you’re likely familiar with Hideo Kojima incorporating real-life famous individuals into the game as characters known as Preppers. In the original version, you might have encountered personalities such as Geoff Keighley, Edgar Wright, Sam Lake, and the head of PlayStation Studios, Hermen Hulst. In the upcoming sequel from Kojima Productions, some well-known figures are expected to make appearances too.
It appears that the cameo roles in the original Death Stranding were so intriguing that numerous celebrities are eager to feature in the sequel. Nevertheless, due to an overwhelming number of requests, Kojima reportedly started declining additional scans for Death Stranding 2, as the development team was nearing capacity within the game. Rumor has it that each Prepper scan took approximately 15 minutes of the developers’ time, and some even had dialog lines added (through Genki).

Ultimately, the director for “Death Stranding 2: On The Beach” turned down close to half of those who expressed interest in joining the project. However, there will be a few guest appearances in the game, and it’s already been verified that several of these guests will indeed be part of it.
It’s been confirmed that Japanese V-tuber Usada Pekora will be featured in the title of “Death Stranding 2”. Additionally, both director Mamoru Oshii and musician Daichi Miura are set to contribute. Director S.S. Rajamouli is rumored to join the cast as a Prepper, similar to Conan O’Brien, who was part of the original “DS” (according to Game Rant).
In the trailer for the upcoming launch of DS 2, we might catch glimpses of some familiar faces. However, Hideo Kojima might choose to unveil the participation of more renowned individuals only at the game’s release, aiming to surprise players, a tactic he has used in the past with the first game.
The sequel to Death Stranding, titled ‘Death Stranding 2: On The Beach’, is set to launch on June 26, 2025, and will initially only be available on PlayStation 5. (However, it’s worth noting that the original game did eventually become playable on PC as well.)
