‘SNL’ Spoofs Pete Hegseth’s Yemen Group Chat With Mikey Madison as Teen Girl Going on Date With Matt Gaetz

In its opening skit, “Saturday Night Live” tackled the Department of Defense group text controversy, featuring host Mikey Madison.

In a recent scenario, the character Madison, fresh off an Oscar win for “Anora,” engaged in a conversation with her friends Ego Nwodim and Sarah Sherman, discussing high school life and crushes, unknowingly within a group chat that was secretly joined by the U.S. Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, portrayed by Andrew Dismukes.

As a movie enthusiast putting on my director’s hat for a moment, I wanted to share that the greenlight has been given for the operation in Yemen. About 15 minutes ago, our missiles took flight. Who’s up for some close-up action against the Houthi rebels? 🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🔥ergine.

This week, The White House has faced criticism following an incident where Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, was inadvertently included in a private Signal chat involving Hegseth, JD Vance, and other key officials, who were exchanging confidential strategies for potential attacks against Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Dismukes added, ‘Israel should bow down and stretch out.’ Bravo! Splash of water. Blessings to our soldiers. Aubergine.’

Later on, Bowen Yang’s character, who was taking on the role of the vice president, joined the conversation. Hegseth inquired about his recent visit to Greenland. “I’m not even sure why I’m here,” Yang replied in a witty reference to ‘Severance’, “but hail to Trump, our mission here is enigmatic and significant.

The sound of a car horn broke into our conversation, and Madison exclaimed, “I need to leave now, Matt’s arrived to collect me. We’re off to catch a movie.

Who do you mean, Gaetz?” Dismukes inquired, alluding to the previous Republican congressman who faced scrutiny from the House ethics committee concerning accusations of sex trafficking involving a 17-year-old girl. (Gaetz has maintained his innocence regarding these allegations.)

“Actually, yeah!” Madison said.

Later on, Secretary of State Marco Rubio (Marcello Hernandez) was brought into the conversation. Upon discovering that there were three young girls in the chat, he jokingly remarked, “We’ve been playing a trick on you, LOL. Could you please send your names and home addresses to deportations@ice.gov for verification purposes?

On “Saturday Night Live,” Madison graced her first hosting role, an uncommon occurrence as she usually enters later, specifically during the monologue, but this time she was part of the opening sketch instead.
