As an ardent fan of the dynamic world of comedy and satire, I am absolutely thrilled to witness the fresh influx of talent gracing the hallowed halls of Saturday Night Live (SNL) for its 50th season. The addition of Allie Levitan, Moss Perricone, and Carl Tart to the writing staff is a testament to the show’s commitment to fostering creativity and innovation.
The debut of Saturday Night Live’s 50th season is less than a week away now, and in preparation for this milestone event, not only have three new performers been added to the cast, but also three new writers have been brought on board: Allie Levitan, Moss Perricone, and Carl Tart. As we gear up for the premiere on September 28th, these additions to the writing staff have been confirmed by Vulture.
Levitan is a multitalented individual, excelling in acting, writing, and comedy. Her initial professional role was as a writer for ‘Our Cartoon President’ on Showtime from 2019 to 2020. Her short film, titled ‘Flail’, was showcased at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival. It was later announced that she collaborated with Molly Gordon on her directorial debut, ‘Small Parts’, set for release in the future. Notably, Levitan is the daughter of Steve Levitan, co-creator of ‘Modern Family’.
For the upcoming season, two writers who were part of last year’s team won’t be returning: Alex English, who announced on Instagram on August 28 that he wasn’t asked back after three seasons; and Vannessa Jackson, a writer from season 49. However, most of the writing staff will stay the same. Alison Gates, Streeter Seidell, and Kent Sublette will continue as co-head writers for their fourth consecutive year, with Sublette holding this position since season 42. Dan Bulla and Auguste White will join Gary Richardson, Will Stephen, and Celeste Yim as writing supervisors for the new season.
