The European streaming platform, SkyShowtime, has unveiled the cast and initial visuals of its upcoming Swedish six-episode original production titled “Where the Sun Always Shines.” This series is filmed in Mallorca and will make its debut exclusively on SkyShowtime starting November 10.
The show, crafted by multi-talented Felix Herngren (known for “Solsidan” and “Bonusfamiljen”), brings together Claes Månsson, Suzanne Reuter, and August Wittgenstein as its main cast. They join the previously announced Erik Johansson (“Bonusfamiljen”), Rakel Wärmländer (“Limbo”), Per Lasson (“Tunna blå linjen”), Lisa Linnertorp (“Solsidan”), Sofia Ledarp, Peter Magnusson, David Nzinga, Inger Nilsson, David Batra, Christopher Wollter, Elvin Philipson, Iris Herngren, Elis Gerdt, and Wojtek Goral in the ensemble of this dark comedy-drama.
The Sun-Soaked Haven” chronicles the lives of Tom (Lasson) and Petra (Linnertorp), a prosperous pair who established a sprawling Ica Maxi store in Linköping before selling it at a record price to indulge in a lavish lifestyle on Mallorca with their sons. Eagerly anticipating an endless vacation, their tranquil existence is abruptly disrupted when Tom turns 50, causing his brother Timmy (Johansson) and his spouse Maja (Wärmländer) to relocate their family to the sun-drenched Spanish island. From then on, a whirlwind of unforeseen events unfolds.
In this project, the production company goes by the name FLX. The show is orchestrated by Herngren in terms of creation and direction, while Sussan Treschow (“Jana – Märkta för livet”) takes on the role of producer. SkyShowtime and SVT collaborate as co-producers. On the writing front, Maria Nygren (“Meningen med livet,” “Kärlek & Anarki”), a head scriptwriter, teams up with Josefin Johansson (“Kärlek & Anarki,” “Top Dog”) as another screenwriter. Lastly, Jessica Ericstam (“Solsidan,” “Meningen med livet”) serves as executive producer for FLX.
