Bethesda acknowledged performance issues with its newly released Nintendo Switch 2 version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim just one day after launch. Players have widely criticized the port, describing it as problematic and reporting significant delays in responsiveness and a fixed frame rate of 30 frames per second.
On Reddit, players started noticing lag issues in the game. One user described a significant delay between moving the Joy-Con stick and seeing their character respond, saying it felt like a full second between input and action – like when they moved the stick, their character’s head would move a second later.

The conversation shifted to a comparison between the Switch 2 version of Skyrim and Cyberpunk 2077. While both run on the same hardware, Cyberpunk 2077 achieves a smoother 40 frames per second and features more visually detailed environments. Many players also pointed out that Skyrim takes up a significant 53GB of the Switch 2’s storage, despite only needing 25GB on a PC, leading to concerns about how the game was ported to the system.
Bethesda is aware that some Nintendo Switch players are experiencing lower frame rates in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim after the Anniversary Edition update. They’ve posted on their support site that they are looking into the problem, but haven’t found a fix yet.
