The popular RPG, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, is now available on the new Nintendo Switch 2, marking another release for the game.
Skyrim remains popular across all gaming systems, and now the 2021 Anniversary Edition is available on Nintendo’s Switch. This updated version offers a few improvements over the original Switch release, including support for Joy-Con 2 mouse control. You’ll also notice faster loading times and better performance, alongside features from the first Switch version like compatibility with Legend of Zelda Amiibo, special Zelda-themed items, and motion controls.
If you already have the Anniversary Edition of Skyrim on your original Switch, you’ll get the upgraded version for Switch 2 at no cost. New players who don’t own any version of Skyrim on Switch can purchase it for $60. If you own the standard edition of Skyrim on Switch, you can upgrade to the Anniversary Edition for $20, and then receive the Switch 2 version as a free bonus. The Anniversary Edition includes the original game, all three expansions, and extra content created by the Skyrim community.
Skyrim continues to be incredibly successful for Bethesda, remaining a top 10 best-selling game ever. Even the game’s lead designer was surprised by its lasting popularity, having expected another title to surpass it over time. A big reason for Skyrim’s continued success is its active modding community, which constantly creates new content and dramatically changes the game world.
So, everyone’s still waiting on The Elder Scrolls VI, the sequel to Skyrim. Bethesda announced it way back in 2018, but honestly, we don’t have a clue when it’s actually coming out. I recently heard Todd Howard, one of the guys at Bethesda, say it’s going to be a while – he’s basically telling us to be patient! He even admitted he’s starting to wonder if announcing it so early was a good idea. It’s tough to wait, but it sounds like it’s going to be a long haul.
