Skyesports Unveils 2025 CS2 Roadmap Featuring $1.75M Prize Pool

As a seasoned CS:GO enthusiast who’s been following the esports scene for over a decade now, I must say, Skyesports has truly outdone itself with this 2025 roadmap! The $1.75 Million prize pool spread across four events is nothing short of spectacular, especially considering the LAN setting in India – a testament to the growing esports culture here.

Approximately a few weeks following the Skyesports Championship 2024, the tournament organizer has unveiled the plan for the year 2025 in Counter-Strike 2. The entire season will consist of four events, comprising three top-tier and one second-tier tournaments, collectively offering a prize pool amounting to $1.75 Million.

These occurrences are set within a Local Area Network (LAN) environment in India. You’ll find the schedule for each event, including their respective prize pools, detailed below.

  • Skyesports Souvenir 2025 (Tier 2) — February 17 to 23 with $250000 prize pool
  • Skyesports Masters 2025 (Tier 2) — May 26 to June 1 with $500000 prize pool
  • Skyesports Championship 2025 (Tier 2) — September 15 to 21 with $500000 prize pool
  • Skyesports World Tour 2025 (Tier 2) — November 10 to 16 with $500000 prize pool

Open Qualifiers will be held for each event listed above except Skyesports Souvenir 2025 across multiple regions including,  India, Europe, Americas, and the Rest of Asia.

Skyesports Unveils 2025 CS2 Roadmap Featuring $1.75M Prize Pool

12 teams will participate in The Skyesports Souvenir 2025 tournament, divided into two phases: Online Closed Qualifiers (from January 20th to 26th) and the Main Event itself. The top four ranked teams according to the Global VRS Rankings will be granted direct entry into the Main Event, while the remaining eight teams will battle it out in the Online Closed Qualifiers to secure their place among the final four.

In simpler terms, the qualifying tournament (Closed Qualifier) will adopt a system similar to GSL where each match is best out of three, and the winners advance. As for the main event, it will employ a double elimination format, meaning that competitors can lose a game but still have a chance to fight back and win the championship title.

Prize Pool Split

  • 1st Place — $100000
  • 2nd Place — $50000
  • 3rd Place — $35000
  • 4th Place — $25000
  • 5th-6th Place — $12500 each
  • 7th-8th Place — $7500 each

Instead, let me rephrase it for you: In contrast, the initial level events, which are the Open Qualifiers played online, will accommodate 256 teams in a knockout tournament format. For matches leading up to the Round of 16, it’s a single game (best-of-one), but from the Round of 16 onwards, it’s three games (best-of-three). The victor of each region’s Open Qualifier will move forward to the Closed Qualifier as the lowest ranked competitor.

As a gamer, I’m part of the sixteen elite squads, ranked from 1 to 16 globally, who receive invites to the Tier 1 events. The cream of the crop, those at the top four positions, get a direct pass to the Main Event. The rest of us, the other twelve teams, along with four additional squads selected through Open Qualifiers, will battle it out in the Closed Qualifier.

In this setup, the sixteen participating teams will be organized into two pools, each containing eight teams, according to their VRS rankings. Then, they’ll engage in a tournament-style format known as a double-elimination bracket, where the matches are best-of-three encounters.

Closed Qualifiers Schedule

  • Skyesports Masters CQ 2025 — April 14 to 20
  • Skyesports Championship CQ 2025 — August 11 to 17
  • Skyesports World Tour CQ 2025 — October 13 to 19

At the LAN Main Event, which is split into two parts – the League Stage and the Playoffs, the four teams that qualified through the Closed Qualifier will team up with the four directly selected squads. During the League Stage, all eight teams will face off in a single round-robin tournament, playing best-of-three matches.

Prize Pool Split

  • 1st Place — $200000
  • 2nd Place — $100000
  • 3rd-4th Place — $60000 each
  • 5th-8th Place — $20000 each

In summary, the leading four squads will proceed to the Playoffs, where they’ll encounter a knockout tournament format. For the semifinals, each team will play three matches, while the championship title will be decided with a five-match series in the grand finals.
