Silo‘s perfect replacement will stream for free soon.
Apple TV+ has become a go-to for quality science fiction, and Silo is one of its biggest hits. The streaming service is delivering big-budget, cinematic visual effects and compelling stories to television. Silo fits right in with other popular sci-fi shows on Apple TV+, like Severance, For All Mankind, and Foundation, as the platform continues to expand its offerings in the genre.
The first season of Silo premiered on May 5, 2023, and concluded on June 30, 2023, after ten episodes. The second season arrived on November 15, 2024, also with ten episodes released weekly, with the finale airing on January 17, 2025. Currently, viewers are looking forward to the third season, anticipated to be released in summer 2026. In the meantime, there’s another show that fans might enjoy.
Pluto TV is adding several popular shows to its free streaming service! Starting May 1st, you’ll be able to watch The 100, Arrow, and Hart of Dixie. And on June 1st, look out for Everwood, also starring Chris Pratt. All of these shows will be available to stream without a subscription.
The sci-fi series The 100 first aired on The CW on March 19, 2014. Similar to Silo, it’s based on a book series of the same name by Kass Morgan. The show begins almost a century after a nuclear disaster destroys Earth. A group of one hundred teenage prisoners are sent back to the planet from a space station to determine if it’s safe for humans to live there again.
The sci-fi series, which ran for seven seasons, shares similarities with Apple TV+’s Silo. Both shows explore a world after a disaster, focusing on survivors trying to determine if life is possible on the surface and uncovering hidden truths. However, Silo creates a more intensely confined and oppressive atmosphere through its use of limited spaces, while The 100 takes place across a wider, more expansive Earth.
If you’re a fan of sci-fi and looking for something to watch while you wait for the next season of Silo, all seven seasons of The 100 are now available. The show, which has 100 episodes, finished airing in September 2020 and will be streaming for free on Pluto TV starting May 1st.
I’m a big fan of The 100 – it’s gotten amazing reviews, with a 93% score on Rotten Tomatoes! The show features Eliza Taylor as Clarke Griffin, Bob Morley as Bellamy Blake, and a fantastic cast including Marie Avgeropoulos, Lindsey Morgan, and Henry Ian Cusick. I think if you enjoy Silo, you’ll really like The 100 too, especially with Silo’s third season coming up – they have a lot in common and it’s a great show to watch beforehand.
