In a similar vein, the actual setting for Silent Hill is eerily similar to its game depiction, with residents posting spooky photos of the small-town landscape on various social platforms.
The sixth installation of Silent Hill hasn’t been given a release date yet, but it’s certainly generating plenty of buzz. It seems like this upcoming chapter could be one of the scariest ones yet due to a chilling warning we’ve received already. Unlike its predecessors which were set in Maine, this version transports you to a small town named Ebisugaoka during the 1960s.
The three-minute preview of the game has previously revealed this location, offering a detailed glimpse into the unsettling landscapes we’re expected to traverse. Despite the town appearing ominous even before the enveloping fog and grotesque monstrosities emerged, it was already shrouded in an eerie atmosphere.
Ebisugaoka was modeled after the actual town of Kanayama, located in Japan’s Gifu prefecture. After the trailer came out, many locals have posted real-world photos, and just as you might imagine, its real-life version shares the same eerie atmosphere.
Silent Hill f’s location in real life already looks creepy
Locals are sharing photos on social media of different locations around town, eagerly anticipating the upcoming game’s launch, as initially noticed by Automaton.
One player asserted that Kanayama is where their grandmother originates, and upon seeing a familiar strolling path transformed into an unsettling and surreal environment within the game, they immediately recognized it.

Initially posted photographs might appear contemporary, yet they retain an eerie and desolate ambiance about the location.
As a gamer, I’ve stumbled upon some chilling images – snaps of a sweet shop in Kanayama, illuminated under the cover of night. Strangely, there are prints of hands smeared across them, intensifying that eerie sensation.
別にサイレントヒルの世界じゃなくても普通に不穏な景色が撮れる町、金山町に来て下さい。

In another post featuring additional images, they invited you to visit Kanayama Town, where you can capture some eerie photographs – despite its differences from Silent Hill.
Another user posted an eerie photo of Kanayama at night, and it’s just as spooky as the previous ones. They commented, “Will the imposing rocks of Kanayama be featured in the game? As a former resident, I’m excited to see them too!
