Silent Hill f: The Shocking Game Banned in Australia!

In a certain country, the upcoming installment of Konami’s survival horror series, Silent Hill f, has been denied a rating.

On March 14th, as stated in a report, the Australian Department of Communication and the Arts classified the eighth main installment of the series as “Refused Classification.” This rating, according to the board’s explanation, means that such films or games cannot be sold, rented, promoted, or legally imported into Australia.

In addition, the RC rating is applicable to any material that goes beyond the usual community norms as defined by general acceptance, and contains content which would be considered excessive for both R 18+ and X 18+ ratings.

No reason for the classification was given in the initial rating.

Why was Silent Hill f banned in Australia?

At the moment of this writing, a particular explanation behind Silent Hill’s RC rating hasn’t been shared yet. In accordance with our inquiry, TopMob has reached out to the rating board for more details.

According to its own classification system, the ESRB labeled this game as Mature 17+, pointing out graphic scenes involving characters being stabbed in the neck or having their faces torn off, a character being set on fire within a cage, and a woman being marked with a hot iron.

Australia often adopts a firm position, restricting films or video games with excessive violence or gore, particularly those involving adult themes such as sex or minor characters. It’s not the first instance that a Silent Hill game has been prohibited in the nation.

Initially, the game Silent Hill: Homecoming was not given a classification in 2008, but eventually received an M for Mature 15+ rating after some controversial scenes were toned down.

On the official site for the game, Silent Hill, a notice from Konami has been posted, alerting players to scenes depicting gender bias, child maltreatment, peer harassment, drug-triggered delusions, physical torment, and intense violence.
