As a seasoned gamer with a library that spans decades, I must say, the latest turn of events with Silent Hill 2 on the PS5 Pro has left me both amused and slightly disheartened. It’s not often that a game I hold dear to my heart becomes the subject of technical mishaps, but here we are. The good news is that Konami and Bloober Team have been quick to address these issues with timely patches, which is always appreciated.
The PlayStation 5 Pro debuted this month with a $700 price point and a collection of PS5 Pro-optimized games intended to deliver an exceptional gaming experience to early adopters. However, players soon complained that titles like Silent Hill 2, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and others appeared less visually appealing on the PS5 Pro. Now, Konami and developer Bloober Team have rectified the issues with a recent update for Silent Hill 2.
The 1.06 patch for Silent Hill 2 wasn’t only developed to address issues with the PS5 Pro; it also aims to rectify several problems encountered in the Steam version of the PC game. However, the main focus lies in resolving the glitches and visual distortions that PS5 Pro players had been experiencing, which weren’t a concern for standard PlayStation 5 consoles.
Update Version 1.06 for Silent Hill 2 is now available on Steam and PlayStation 5! This update incorporates numerous improvements across both game versions, as well as graphics fixes tailored specifically for the PlayStation 5 Pro.

Funny thing, I wasn’t expecting trouble from the Silent Hill 2 update, but here we are again. The 1.04 update was supposed to smooth out the gameplay on Steam and reduce crashes on the PS5, but it seems they forgot to test it thoroughly. Instead of fixing issues, it introduced some game-halting bugs that were supposed to be squashed in the 1.05 patch. However, it’s the performance on the PS5 Pro that’s causing all the fuss now.
It’s commendable that Konami and Bloober Team have been prompt in releasing updates. Let’s hope they continue to tackle any future problems swiftly. Considering the initial challenges faced by certain developers when working on PS5 Pro-enhanced games, it’s understandable why CD Projekt Red has chosen not to develop a PlayStation 5 Pro patch for Cyberpunk 2077 anytime soon.
