Sigourney Weaver Admits She Never Watched The Mandalorian Before Joining!

The much-loved protagonist, Sigourney Weaver, who’s renowned for her sci-fi roles, will be making her debut in the upcoming Star Wars film featuring The Mandalorian and Grogu. Even with her extensive experience in the genre, she had to admit an ‘awkward’ truth before diving into this new project.

Although Disney’s space opera series has primarily focused on expanding its television universe, a fresh phase is approaching with a thrilling lineup of upcoming films, featuring Ryan Gosling as Starfighter.

First up is Jon Favreau’s upcoming movie, serving as a continuation of the story following The Mandalorian Season 3. It won’t take a genius to figure out that Pedro Pascal will once again play Din Djarin. This time, however, his lovable companion will be by his side.

On their journey, they’ll encounter some fresh, stardust-laden newcomers, among them Sigourney Weaver, a renowned extraterrestrial figure, who joined Favreau on the Live Stage at the 2025 Star Wars Celebration to unveil additional details about The Mandalorian and Grogu.

Sigourney Weaver’s The Mandalorian & Grogu confession

In an open conversation, Weaver disclosed the instance when Favreau approached her for a part in the forthcoming Star Wars film, yet she confessed that she hadn’t previously seen The Mandalorian.

She admitted, “When Jon unexpectedly proposed a Zoom call and began discussing ‘The Mandalorian’ and Grogu, it seemed we were both a bit awkward. I must confess, I haven’t seen that particular series yet.

To be honest, if someone had told me earlier about that series, I probably would’ve given it a watch. But here’s the thing, they simply said, “Just start watching it,” and before I knew it, I was hooked. Honestly, who can resist such an engaging show?

“The encounter with both characters, the world, and all other interconnected universes left me feeling incredibly inspired and quite amazing! The next time we met on Zoom, I had gained a bit more understanding, and I found it impossible to resist my curiosity – frankly, I can’t thank Jon enough for considering me in the first place.

Although she hadn’t watched The Mandalorian prior to being offered a role, Weaver expressed that she had long admired the Star Wars movies.

She mentioned, “I adore venturing into different realms where significant events unfold, even though these stories take place in a universe other than our own.

For me, science fiction offers a welcome escape, which is why I keep returning to it. It’s not just about the future; it’s also about humanity, and it provides a platform for exploring numerous concepts. In essence, it’s an endless journey of discovery.

Not only is this intriguing, but the actress also disclosed insights into her role. “She’s an airforce officer, specifically a fighter pilot… She originated from the Rebellion,” she revealed.

Currently, she seems determined to safeguard the New Republic, and from my perspective, she’s fully dedicated to her actions. She’s wisely brought on a Mandalorian and an associate, and I’m eager to discover if they live up to their reputation. I have high hopes for them.
