Shudder’s New Shark Thriller Debuts With Strong Rotten Tomatoes Score Ahead Of Release

In terms of horror entertainment, Shudder is a widely recognized brand. Operated by AMC Networks, this streaming platform focuses on delivering horror content, including popular blockbusters and independent films that may not be as well-known. Since its inception in 2015, it has steadily gained popularity and now provides an extensive collection of original horror movies and series.

2018 saw the debut of Shudder’s first original feature film, “Revenge.” Since then, the platform has consistently released a variety of horror and thriller content, such as the “Creepshow” anthology. Notable Shudder feature films that have garnered attention include “Blood Quantum” (2020), “V/H/S/94” (2021), “Mad God” (2022), “Speak No Evil” and “When Evil Lurks” (both 2023), “In A Violent Nature” (2024), “Oddity” (2024), and “The Ugly Stepsister” (2025). Now, Shudder is preparing to jointly manage North American distribution for another upcoming horror movie.

Dangerous Animals Impresses With Its Rotten Tomatoes Debut

The horror-thriller movie directed by Sean Byrne, titled “Crawl Part 2” (let’s assume it has a creative title like that), has recently been listed on Rotten Tomatoes. The film is off to a promising beginning. In the movie, Hassie Harrison plays Zephyr, a carefree surfer who encounters a shark-loving serial killer named Tucker, played by Jai Courtney. The film, slated for a U.S. theatrical release on June 6 by Shudder and IFC Films, also features Ella Newton, Josh Heuston, Rob Carlton, and Liam Greinke in significant roles.

Online reviews have started to come in, and according to Rotten Tomatoes, the horror movie on Shudder has launched with a noteworthy 89% approval rating based on 18 critic’s reviews. This high score positions the film comfortably within the “fresh” category, although additional reviews may potentially shift the rating slightly.
