Popular Twitch streamer shroud has played about 10 hours of the new game Highguard on his channel, and while he enjoys the basic gameplay, he’s worried about some technical problems that need to be addressed soon.
I was listening to Shroud talk about Highguard, and he basically said it feels like a game made for really competitive players – the kind who love to climb the ranked ladder and really test their skills. He called it “a fun game for the sweats,” which I think perfectly sums it up – it’s clearly aimed at people who enjoy a challenge and getting good at things!
Honestly, I was so excited to hear him say the game is amazing! He kept emphasizing how good the main game mode is – like, really good. It’s awesome to hear him enjoying it so much!
Even though the game received positive feedback, the streamer was ultimately let down by its initial release. They cited a frustrating lack of customizable settings and several performance issues, including unwanted mouse smoothing, restricted video and keybinding options, frequent crashes, and poor frame rates.
I’m disappointed with how the product turned out. The mouse movement feels off, there aren’t enough options for video settings, and I can’t customize enough keys. Plus, the game keeps crashing and the frame rate is really low. I was hoping for a more polished experience.
I really dislike playing games that artificially smooth mouse movements or are limited by low frame rates. It’s incredibly frustrating.
Shroud says Highguard devs are on a “timer”
I’m really hoping the upcoming fixes and patches will sort out a lot of the issues we’ve been having. The developers seem pretty confident, and they’re very excited about the next big patch – it’s coming with Episode 2 in just two weeks, and they think it’ll make a huge difference!
Shroud notes that Highguard faced criticism even before launch, sparked by the Game Awards trailer. The game’s technical problems at release have only made those criticisms worse.
He explained that the game developers really need to get things right. It’s already facing an uphill battle because many people disliked it even before its release, and the launch issues are only making things worse.
Shroud believes the game’s developers need to quickly fix problems and improve performance, particularly for competitive players who notice even small issues with how the game feels and responds.
