‘Shrinking’ Season 3 Casts Jeff Daniels as Jason Segel’s Dad

Jeff Daniels has joined the cast of “Shrinking” at Apple TV+, EbMaster has learned.

In the third season of the series, scheduled to premiere in October 2024 (originally announced back then), actor Daniels is set to make an appearance. He will portray Jimmy, played by Jason Segel, father’s character. Alongside Segel, the talented cast of this highly-regarded comedy-drama includes Daniel Harrison Ford, Jessica Williams, Michael Urie, Lukita Maxwell, Christa Miller, and Ted McGinley.

Daniels is set to take on a new TV role, marking his latest venture in recent years. Earlier, he graced our screens in the Showtime and later Amazon Prime Video series of “American Rust,” as well as the cable limited series “The Comey Rule.” He has also been seen in shows such as “A Man in Full,” HBO’s “The Newsroom” where he won an Emmy in 2013, Netflix’s “Godless” for which he received another Emmy in 2018, and “The Looming Tower.” Daniels is a multi-talented actor, known for his performances in films like “The Squid and the Whale,” “The Purple Rose of Cairo,” “Pleasantville,” “Good Night and Good Luck,” and both “Dumb & Dumber” movies.

The show was jointly developed by Segel, Bill Lawrence, and Brett Goldstein. This production is handled by Warner Bros. Television, where Lawrence and Goldstein have long-term contracts, along with Lawrence’s Doozer Productions. A total of eleven individuals, including Lawrence, Segel, Goldstein, Neil Goldman, James Ponsoldt, Jeff Ingold, Liza Katzer, Randall Winston, Annie Mebane, Rachna Fruchbom, and Brian Gallivan, serve as executive producers. In the third season, Ashley Nicole Black and Bill Posley will also join them in their executive producer roles.
