Showdog Studio is unveiling a trio of ’80s-themed spy series that share the same fictional world, with ex-undercover agents Nick Brokhausen and Jeff Miller lending their expertise, as EbMaster has learned firsthand.
As a cinephile, let me tell you about three intriguing movies I’ve come across – “The Puppet,” “American Ronin,” and “The Bay Club.”
“The Puppet” promises to be an enthralling blend of drama and suspense, with its enigmatic plot lines.
“American Ronin,” on the other hand, is a gripping procedural that delves into the real-life struggles of two disillusioned veterans navigating the complexities of the justice system.
Lastly, “The Bay Club” seems to be a lighthearted comedy filled with misunderstandings and twists, centered around a bartender who finds himself wrongfully accused of being a spy.
Full loglines for the shows can be seen below.
I’m thrilled to be part of these projects, as Brokhausen and Miller expressed in a joint statement. Our careers and lives have often been dramatized on screen, but seldom have they reflected the truth. Among all the portrayals, ‘American Ronin’ stands out for me as it promises an unadulterated and authentic depiction of life in the shadows. I can assure you, nothing quite like this has been shown before.
Apart from his political career, Howard Klausner, known by many as “Reagan,” has taken on additional roles. He’s set to serve as the creative director at Showdog Studio. Moreover, he’s associated with “American Ronin” as an executive producer and with “The Bay Club” in a dual role as both executive producer and showrunner.
Klausner expressed his enthusiasm in a declaration: “It’s a pleasure to team up with John Attard and Showdog Studio. This forward-thinking organization is at the forefront of creative technology, brimming with exceptional content, and boasts an impressive array of talented individuals all working together.
Each series will comprise between eight and ten episodes, with intentions to shoot them all simultaneously. “The Puppet” is derived from a story penned by Nancy Solomon, co-written for the script with Jen Golum. “American Ronin” is adapted from the book “Vagabonds,” originally written by Brokhausen and Miller.
John Attard, founder of Showdog, expressed that our upcoming project is a grand endeavor and its success hinges on gathering the perfect team. He stated that with the current setup, we can breathe life into a multi-genre espionage universe through three series that have great potential for streaming or network broadcasts. John added that Nick and Jeff bring over a century of real-life expertise to the table; Dennis Quaid stars in ‘Reagan’, which serves as an excellent example demonstrating strong interest in this period of American and global history, produced by Howie Klausner; and Nancy and Jen have crafted an intriguing, intelligent concept that we believe has the potential to become the next major spy thriller.
Showdog is represented by Gersh.
Series Info
– In “The Puppet,” the leading and charismatic U.S. Senator Lily Longhorn, who is vying for the presidency, is in fact a deceptive figure – an Iranian agent embedded within our political system. However, she desires to extricate herself from this situation, but finds herself ensnared by her ruthless Russian manipulator.
Titled previously as “Plan B,” the film “American Ronin” is inspired by real events involving two veterans and alleged ex-covert agents (Brockhausen and Miller), authors of the book “Vagabonds.” Disenchanted with a justice system that falls short, they transition into freelance operators, taking on complex, high-profile missions outside the grasp of government control.
The Bay Club Chronicles”
Set against the backdrop of Newport Beach, California, spanning from the 1960s to the 1980s, this series intertwines various storylines in a unique blend of drama and comedy. Imagine uncovering the truth behind all your conspiracy theories – that’s exactly what happens in this series! The narrative revolves around a man who takes up work as a bartender at the esteemed Bay Club, a veritable playground for the ultra-rich, politicians, celebrities, and spies. Feeling ensnared, he yearns to escape and distance himself from any further peril. However, as club members begin to suspect him of being a spy, he unwittingly becomes the most captivating conspiracy theory within the Bay Club’s exclusive walls.
