Today, the Pokémon YouTube channel unveiled a trailer for the upcoming Shining Revelry booster pack in the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket series. This new pack will incorporate shiny Pokémon into the game. For those who may not know, shiny Pokémon are similar to regular ones, but they have unique colors. In the main video games, encountering a shiny Pokémon is rare, with a probability of about 0.0244%. It’s exciting and surprising news, and it’s wonderful to see this feature added to the popular digital card game.
Shiny Pokémon arrive in Pokémon TCG pocket next week
The fresh trailer released is less than a minute long and presents several key features of the pack. On the cover of the pack, there’s a special Charizard, darker in color compared to the usual orange one, appearing entirely black instead. Other shiny Pokémon are also featured alongside it. The new pack will be accessible starting March 27th, which is only a week away now. In the past, dedicated fans have had an edge due to leaks, but today’s reveal took many by surprise.
From the preview, we can expect to find Lucario, Pachirisu, Beedrill, Varoom, Wugtrio, and Wigglet as luminous Pokemon in this collection. There might be additional ones too. The video also showcased some non-shiny Pokemon, suggesting that not every card in the pack will be shiny. It’s intriguing to discover more about the scarcity of the shimmering Pokemon cards. At this point, it remains unclear whether each card will have a regular version and a shimmering counterpart, or if some cards are guaranteed to be shimmering. Will the shining Charizard EX from the trailer always be shimmering? Or is there a regular version as well? If The Pokémon Company chooses to follow this pattern, it would align with how shiny Pokemon operate in the games. However, it could prove challenging for collectors if the likelihood of finding a shimmering card is low.
Apart from introducing the latest sparkling Pokémon, the upcoming Shining Revelry pack is set to spotlight “Pokémon indigenous to the Paldea region,” as revealed on the official Pokémon website. You might recognize Paldea as the setting for Scarlet and Violet, a beloved region that has recently been in the spotlight. Interestingly enough, the grass cat starter Sprigatito is showcased in the reveal video. Additionally, the original game’s protagonist, Red, makes an appearance as a Trainer card alongside Iono, the electric-type gym leader from Scarlet and Violet.
As we’re only a week away from the release of the latest set, it’s high time to begin setting aside pack hourglasses. Shining Revelry will be up for grabs a month following the last pack release, Triumphant Light, which debuted on February 27th. If Pokémon TCG Pocket maintains its current release pace, there’s no doubt it will stay on the trajectory of success it has already embarked upon. It certainly makes the lengthy wait for trading updates more manageable.
