Actor Shemar Moore recently shared a controversial video on his Instagram account explaining his choice to reprise his role in the “S.W.A.T.” sequel series, “S.W.A.T. Exiles,” without some of his previous cast members. According to EbMaster, this new spinoff will consist of 10 episodes and Moore is set to reprise his character Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson following the conclusion of the original series on May 16th. Notably, Jay Harrington, who portrayed popular character Deacon, was not mentioned as part of the cast for this new series, sparking disappointment and criticism among “S.W.A.T.” fans.
At the beginning of his video, Moore acknowledged that he may face criticism from both the industry and the fans because people generally dislike change. However, he explained that change is essential for growth.
Moore assured us that “S.W.A.T. Exiles” will be more extensive and daring than the initial series, likening it to “S.W.A.T.” with extra strength. He even referred to himself as the top player of S.W.A.T., aka the “Tom Brady of S.W.A.T.
Moore stated, “What I’m saying isn’t arrogance or ego; it’s just stating facts. Yes, Tom Brady is the quarterback, but history shows that players like tight ends, running backs, and receivers can be traded. However, teams continue to rely on their quarterbacks, and in this case, I am that quarterback. I’m incredibly proud, grateful, and unapologetic. After working tirelessly for 31 years to achieve my success, I’m eager for what the future holds.
Moore referred to his ex-cast members as “lifelong family,” expressing it was both sweet and bitter to proceed without them.
In March, CBS announced that it was ending “S.W.A.T.” after eight seasons. The plot for the new series goes like this: “Following a challenging operation that went awry, Daniel ‘Hondo’ Harrelson is coerced out of retirement and tasked with leading an experimental SWAT team consisting of inexperienced, unpredictable rookies. Hondo must manage a wide age gap among the team members, deal with contrasting personalities, and transform a group of misfits into a unit capable of safeguarding the city and preserving the program that shaped his identity.
