SHARK SERIAL KILLER Thriller Gets Rave Reviews

The serial killer thriller has garnered its initial critical acclaim, which is positive news as it approaches its wide release on June 6th.

At the moment, the movie “Dangerous Animals” is enjoying a 89% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, as more reviews come in, this score could change. It’s yet to be determined what audience reactions will be once the film becomes more widely available. Critics are currently impressed with how the movie cleverly combines the terror of sharks and serial killers into a single narrative. Moreover, the film’s main actors have received considerable acclaim, including Jai Courtney, who is known for his role in “The Suicide Squad” within the DCEU.

In his review, Josh Korngut praised the movie “Dangerous Animals” for combining the suspense of a slasher with the terror of a creature-feature, and singled out Jai Courtney’s captivating portrayal of a villain as one of the best unmasked performances in recent memory.

Critic Philip De Semlyen observed, “It requires a skilled director to create a horror movie as extraordinary as Dangerous Animals, yet Byrne has managed to make something smooth and assured in this production. It’s certain to keep horror enthusiasts away from the water for quite some time.

Critic Rachel Leishman raved that the movie was an exhilarating, peculiar, and exceptional concept for a serial-killer thriller, and she adored every moment of it.

According to Kat Hughes, “Wolf Creek” with sharks is akin to “Dangerous Animals,” and it seems poised to become the terrifying blockbuster hit of the summer.

Under the direction of Sean Byrne, known for movies like “The Loved Ones” and “The Devil’s Candy”, the screenplay for “Dangerous Animals” was penned by Nick Lepard. Alongside Courtney portraying a serial killer, Hassie Harrison from “Yellowstone” and Josh Heuston from “Dune: Prophecy” are featured in the cast. The story revolves around Hassie Harrison’s character, Zephyr, a rebellious surfer who is kidnapped by a shark-fixated serial killer (Courtney). While held captive on his boat, Zephyr attempts to escape before the serial killer performs a ritualistic feeding to the sharks below.

Byrne eagerly anticipates revealing ‘Dangerous Animals’ this summer in a press statement. Unlike numerous shark movies of the past, he guarantees this film will leave viewers questioning who the real menace is – man or beast. It’s a chilling survival horror tale filled with suspense and terror that demands to be watched on the big screen.

Dangerous Animals Arrives as Jaws Turns 50

The movie will debut during the month that Jaws marks its 50th anniversary. After half a century, the fear of sharks in horror films continues to captivate audiences, with a significant portion of this enduring appeal owed to its originality from the beginning. Since then, numerous movies centered around sharks and horror have been produced, but it’s uncommon for creators to bring something uniquely fresh to the genre.

Dangerous Animals will be released in theaters on June 6, 2025.
