Shannon Sharpe has announced that he won’t be appearing on “First Take” for some time, following accusations and a $50 million lawsuit filed by a woman from Nevada who claims Sharpe sexually assaulted and threatened her during their two-year relationship.
On X, Sharpe announced that he would be taking a brief break from his responsibilities at ESPN, where he is a regular on “First Take,” the lively sports discussion show hosted by Stephen A. Smith. He intends to rejoin ESPN when the National Football League’s preseason begins.
ESPN released a statement on Thursday, saying, “This is a significant matter, and we support Shannon’s choice to take a break.” This step might provide ESPN and its parent company with the necessary time to assess whether Shannon Sharpe should remain part of their talent pool.
Sharpe stated that the disputed connection was entirely mutual. He also mentioned that he would spend this period focusing on his loved ones and addressing the unfounded and troubling accusations directed towards him.
Sharpe is usually found on “First Take” every Monday and Tuesday, and he’s also the host of a podcast named “Club Shay Shay.” (Informal)
