Severance Season 3: Will Reghabi Finally Get the Story She Deserves?

As a devoted fan of “Severance,” I’ve been eagerly waiting for the character arcs to develop more substantially since the first two seasons. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that season 3 will provide a richer narrative for them. Following one of the most thrilling television finales ever, “Severance” season 1 hinted at an even broader exploration of its sci-fi concepts and increased tension for our primary characters in another installment. Although it took some time for “Severance” season 2 to debut on Apple TV+, it certainly delivered on its promises. With its intriguing innie/outie transitions and numerous captivating plot twists and turns, “Severance” season 2 never failed to keep me on the edge of my seat.

Due to its excellent quality, it’s challenging to find fault with Apple TV+’s sci-fi series “Severance” so far. However, upon closer examination of certain plot points in season 2, it appears that one character could benefit from more depth and screen time in season 3. This character has great story potential, but their narrative hasn’t advanced significantly since season 1. In my opinion, “Severance” is already one of the most engrossing and captivating sci-fi shows I’ve seen, but it could reach even greater heights if it addresses this character issue effectively in future seasons.

Reghabi’s Story Felt Unresolved & Rushed In Severance Season 2

She Has Had No Real Development In The Series So Far

In the series “Severance,” Karen Aldridge’s character Asal Reghabi appears abruptly as Pete’s contact and attempts to persuade Mark to undergo reintegration in season 1, which feels like a plot device. There were numerous possibilities for her storyline to become engaging and intriguing. Regrettably, the development of her story in season 2 moves at a glacial pace. She subjects Mark to various tests, but the reintegration process appears to be flawed or ineffective.

From her discussions with Mark, it appears she has extensive knowledge of Lumon and its operations that she isn’t fully disclosing. Instead, she subtly shares information about the company’s questionable actions and Gemma’s situation. Reghabi’s background is mysterious; the series only reveals that she was a surgeon at Lumon who implanted Mark’s chip. Her intentions and Lumon’s past remain largely unexplored.

It appears that Reghabi’s portrayal in “Severance” leaves room for uncertainty, hinting at a possible antagonist role in future seasons. However, the direction of her storyline is difficult to predict because she stands apart from the main group, making her arc less interconnected with the central plot. Her character feels somewhat unfinished and hastily developed when she abruptly decides to run away upon Devon contacting Ms. Cobel.

Severance Season 3 Must Explain The Real Reason Behind Reghabi’s Unpredictable Behavior

It Must Explore What Reghabi Really Knows About Lumon

In the Apple TV+ series, Reghabi’s storyline has progressed to a stage where it’s no longer feasible for her character to be used solely as a plot device. The show must now delve deeper into her background and uncover what she knows about Lumon. Furthermore, the series should shed light on whether Reghabi acts with noble intentions or not. Based on her actions in season 2, it appears that more harm than benefit has come from her, as she subjected Mark to rigorous reintegration tests that ultimately seemed unsuccessful.

Perhaps Season 3 of “Severance” could delve deeper into Reghabi’s past with Lumon, similar to how Season 2 focused on Cobel’s history. This approach would not only help rectify any shortcomings in Reghabi’s storyline up until now but also cater to the ongoing interest of viewers in her overarching narrative and its potential connections with other “Severance” character arcs. As a viewer, I eagerly anticipate the series reaching its full potential by offering characters like Reghabi the rich narrative development and clarity they deserve.
