As a dedicated gamer, I can confidently say that when Cyberpunk 2077 hits Switch 2, the developers are determined to avoid the pitfalls they encountered with earlier-generation consoles. They’ve learned from those experiences and will strive for an optimal gaming experience on this new platform.
Despite initially being met with disappointment and failure by CD Projekt’s standards, the RPG (Role-Playing Game) has significantly evolved over the past 4 years. However, some players continue to express concerns about the quality of Cyberpunk 2077 on older consoles such as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. To put it simply, the game’s performance on these devices falls short of expectations.
Due to some doubts about its performance, a few gamers questioned how well Cyberpunk 2077 would run and appear on the Nintendo Switch 2. Despite being newer with modern components, the Nintendo console still seems to have an edge over the PS4. However, when compared on paper, the Nintendo Switch 2 appears to be more similar to the platform of Cyberpunk 2077 than the PlayStation 5.
It’s not unexpected that discussions and evaluations of C2077 on the second Nintendo Switch were soon followed by comparisons to its releases on other platforms, particularly those from Sony.
Years of development and a faster disk helped the devs
During a chat with Game File, engineer Tim Green from CD Projekt RED studio discussed the game’s functioning on Nintendo’s latest console. He noted that they strive to achieve 1080p resolution in all modes except for performance mode when playing in portable mode. Additionally, DLSS support has been verified, ensuring its functionality even when the console is detached from the docking station.
Without a doubt, the team needs to find common ground, but this time, the creators are exerting extra effort to adhere closely to Night City’s original concept. Moreover, having a faster disk offers significant advantages over PS4 and XBox One, as it addresses one of the primary complaints about Cyberpunk 2077 on older consoles – the slow loading of objects and textures.
The continuous advancements and refinements made by the CD Projekt RED team since the late-2020 launch, notably, are equally significant. This enhanced version of Cyberpunk 2077 provided a robust base for the developers to construct the game’s release on next-gen consoles (NS2).
Cyberpunk 2077 will hit Nintendo Switch 2 on the console’s release day: June 5th.
