SEGA has unveiled their upcoming Sonic-centric project titled Sonic Rumble. This exciting venture is set to release on both mobile platforms and PCs, and it’s currently in its Pre-Launch phase. In this stage, the developers have rolled out several patch updates, introduced new game modes, and organized events for gamers to enjoy; remarkably, a collaboration with the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie has been incorporated into the battle royale game.
Originally planned for a May 2025 release, followed by an update after the game’s debut, SEGA’s Sonic Rumble development team recently announced a delay in the game’s launch, with further details to be shared shortly. This announcement was made just before the scheduled release date.
The highly anticipated game titled Sonic Rumble, set for release on both mobile devices and computers on May 8th, 2025, initially had plans for an update, version 1.2, following soon after. This upcoming enhancement will bring fresh in-game elements such as new Skills, the option to form teams with other players to collaborate on missions, and a Rumble Ranking system that allows you to join a new League mode to acquire exclusive rewards by competing.
Dear Rumblers, we truly appreciate your outstanding backing and understanding during this process. After careful consideration, we’ve chosen to delay the global release of Sonic Rumble. Our goal is to develop a game that continues to be engaging and enjoyable for extended periods – months, even years! To create such an enduring, top-tier Sonic experience…

regretfully for enthusiasts of Sonic, the creators revealed on April 30th, 2025 that the release of Sonic Rumble has been postponed, with the new launch date still undetermined at this point. As stated in the announcement posted to the game’s Steam page, the developers acknowledged that this news might be disheartening for fans of Sonic Rumble; however, they clarified that this decision wasn’t taken lightly.
SEGA acknowledges and shares your sense of letdown, given our initial plans for the launch were near at hand. Nevertheless, we firmly believe that this additional time will be beneficial for the long-term success of Sonic Rumble.” (Developer’s statement)
Fans will have an opportunity to gather more information about the postponement of Sonic Rumble, as a community Q&A event has been scheduled. This interactive session will take place on the official Discord server and is set to commence on May 2nd, 2025 at 6 am Pacific Time / 9 am Eastern Time / 1 pm Coordinated Universal Time. During this event, players can submit their questions for the development team to address, along with receiving updates on upcoming game features and plans for Sonic Rumble following its delay.
