Despite the fact that these high-profile celebrities are usually jet-setting around, it may come as a shock to learn that the Netflix show “Four Seasons” was not shot in the location you’re assuming.
Translating the given sentence into simpler and more natural language: What happens when you combine Tina Fey, Steve Carell, and Colman Domingo on screen? You end up with a TV series that’s absolutely worth watching back-to-back, something you wouldn’t want to miss! “Four Seasons” revolves around the friendship of three couples over several decades, which is put to the test when one of them gets divorced, causing ripples in their annual tradition of spending weekends together.
This show is a modern take on Alan Alda’s 1981 romantic comedy film of the same title. It’s one of the most anticipated series debuting on our streaming platform this month. With just eight episodes, you could comfortably finish it in a single sitting.
Despite our travel-loving duos seemingly perpetually on the move, the shooting locations behind the Four Seasons may come as an unexpected find.
Netflix’s Four Seasons was almost entirely filmed in one state
Except for Episodes 3 and 4, the entire series Four Seasons was shot in New York City. Interestingly, the eco-resort featured in those specific episodes is not located in New York but rather in Puerto Rico.
Let’s go back to the start. The episodes numbered 1 and 2 depict a journey to Nick and Anne’s house, which was not filmed at a single location in New York but rather various spots in Cold Spring, Newburgh, and Fishkill. If you have an inkling that they look familiar, these actual locations can be found in those cities.
Then there’s Episodes 3 and 4, which we know is our fake eco resort actually in Puerto Rico.
In Episodes 5 and 6, as well as Episodes 7 and 8, the filming took place at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York. The surrounding areas of Putnam and Dutchess counties were also showcased during these episodes.
Fey stated to Netflix that New York is stunningly enchanting, boasting an incredibly charming quality. She emphasized its unique allure as a location where one can experience the four distinct seasons in their full glory.
It’s quite probable that the indoor shots were taken at either Umbra Stages or GJW Studios. The production period spanned from September to December of 2024.
Four Seasons shares a filming location with Severance
Nestled among the New York counties we’ve discussed is the Hudson River Valley, a scenic area frequently captured in our shots. Interestingly, it isn’t exclusive to our show this year; it’s also featured prominently as a backdrop in Apple TV+’s Severance.
In October 2024, while the Four Seasons team was capturing scenes around that location, filming for Severance had actually started there back in 2021. The famous Beacon Dummy Light of the area can be seen in Season 1, Episode 9, and the Minnewaska State Park Preserve was utilized in Season 2 of the show.
In the sequel, you’ll find tunnels similar to those around Cold Spring, which eventually lead towards Ulster County – home to a Chinese restaurant, perhaps?
Currently, you can stream “Four Seasons” on Netflix. If you’re interested in more options, explore the latest TV series available for streaming this month, top picks from the year so far, and upcoming releases in 2025 that are worth marking on your calendar!
