During the Xbox Games Showcase, it was announced that Season 17 for Sea of Thieves, an online pirate game by Rare, is coming soon. This new season, called Smugglers’ Tide, will launch in August and includes a new group called The Smuggler’s League in the game. Players can look forward to new missions (Voyages) and powerful explosives with this season update.

Based on the trailer’s content, The Smuggler’s League appears to revolve around activities such as concealing valuables, recovering submerged treasures, and even pilfering from fellow competitors. Some of the newly displayed loot in the trailer includes crates brimming with golden liquor bottles and barrels of black gunpowder. These items are likely to detonate if handled carelessly; however, players can turn their destructive power into a tactical advantage.

Watch the trailer below.

The video preview displays figures wielding harpoon weapons to grab treasures and adopting sneaky strategies to escape with explosive containers. However, the trailer doesn’t delve into specific rewards tied to factions, but you can anticipate receiving numerous unique items as rewards for finishing Smuggler’s Journeys and accolades.

In the unique game Sea of Thieves, the latest chapter known as “Reapers Rule” commenced on May 22nd. This update offers fresh content for The Reaper’s Bones gang. Additionally, it introduced a new adventure, the option to summon skeleton NPCs to aid your crew, and a movable cannon named the Rage Cannon.

As an enthusiast, I was eagerly anticipating Everwild, a new title under development by Rare, but alas, it didn’t make an appearance at this year’s Xbox Games Showcase.
