Starting from October 22nd, the Viaplay Content Distribution has made its channel available as an additional subscription option right within Prime Video in Germany. Now, I can enjoy a fantastic selection of Scandinavian and European series and films that Viaplay offers, all under one roof!

Viaplay’s German selection features top-notch, thought-provoking Nordic series and movies, which include critically acclaimed Nordic noir dramas like “End of Summer,” “Face to Face,” “The Bridge,” “Gåsmamman,” “Furia,” “Trom,” “Stockholm Requiem,” “The Sandhamn Murders,” “Unit One,” “The Team,” “Wallander,” and “Darkness: Those Who Kill.” Additionally, the platform will stream three films from the Millennium/The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo collection.

BBC Studios has finalized numerous agreements for the distribution of its scripted and factual archives in various regions of Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa. In Europe, Warner Bros. Discovery (covering France and French territories overseas), Arte.tv, M6+, Mediawan (all from France), Network 4 (Hungary), and Sky Italia (Italy) have each obtained packages of scripted content. Deals for unscripted content have been made in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and Sub-Saharan Africa with AMCNI CNE (comprising the Czech Republic, Hungary, Moldova, Romania, and Slovakia) and SABC (South Africa). In Hungary, MTVA, TV2 Media Group, and Network 4 have each procured both scripted and non-scripted content for their respective channels.

Dutch Soccer’s Eredivisie Extends Partnership with IMG

IMG, a global sports management company, has extended and broadened its 20-year partnership with the Dutch soccer league, Eredivisie, running through 2023. Under this new agreement, IMG will handle international media rights distribution for the league and offer it global consultancy services. As of now, Eredivisie is accessible in 142 countries via 35 broadcasting partners. Besides Eredivisie, other clients of IMG include the Premier League, CONMEBOL, Saudi Pro League, Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF), Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF), English Football League (EFL), Belgian Pro League, among others.

The Japanese drama “Mother” by Nippon TV will be reimagined for a Greek audience by Alpha TV, one of the largest broadcasters in Greece. Titled “Na me les mama,” meaning “Call me mom” in Greek, this new adaptation marks the 11th time an Asian scripted format has been remade, as per Nippon TV. The series revolves around a woman in her twenties who shows no interest in romance, society or her own well-being. Following the discovery that one of her school’s students is being mistreated, she decides to rescue and raise the girl herself. Previously, the “Mother” format has been licensed for adaptation in South Korea (CJ E&M), Turkey (MF Yapim), Ukraine (STB TV), Thailand (Juvenile), China (Radiant Pictures), France (Incognita), Spain (Atresmedia), Saudi Arabia (MedyaPim for MBC), Mongolia (Green Show Productions), and the Philippines (ABS-CBN).
