As a longtime horror fan and movie critic with a soft spot for Tim Burton’s quirky creations, I am beyond thrilled to see Jenna Ortega joining forces with Michael Keaton in the new “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” trailer. Through totally avoidable circumstances, Ortega’s Astrid is dragged to hell by ghouls, requiring Beetlejuice to take Lydia on the rescue mission of an after-lifetime. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Catherine O’Hara is set to rejoin the cast, meaning she’ll be playing my onscreen grandma as Delia Deetz. Unfortunately, there’s no official announcement yet regarding the return of Jeffrey Jones and Alec Baldwin for their previous roles.

Willem Defoe is said to portray a law enforcement officer in the next “Beetlejuice” sequel, while Monica Bellucci transforms into Beetlejuice’s seemingly vengeful spouse. In the trailer, she tells Defoe, “I’ve never met you before in this world or the next.” Alongside Danny DeVito and Arthur Conti from “House of the Dragon,” Justin Theroux (“Mulholland Drive”) is set to join the cast. His character, named Rory, is yet to have its role fully revealed.
