As a seasoned movie enthusiast with a penchant for global cinema, I am thrilled to witness the burgeoning of Saudi Arabian film industry, particularly this collaboration between MBC Studios and best-selling author Osamah Almuslim. The upcoming horror film “Jahim Al-Abirin” or “Travellers’ Hell”, under the direction of Hana Al-Omair, promises to be a groundbreaking venture in the Saudi cinematic landscape, given their past successes like “Rise of The Witches”.

MBC Studios, a prominent studio from Saudi Arabia, has secured a collaboration with renowned Saudi author Osamah Almuslim. According to this agreement, his popular novel “Jahim Al-Abirin” (“Travellers’ Hell”) will be adapted into a premium horror movie, targeted for the cinema market, under the guidance of promising director Hana Al-Omair.

This year, Hana Al Omair, the director of Netflix’s initial Saudi original series “Whispers,” took on a new role as Creative Director at the MBC studios.

MBC, known as the largest broadcaster in the Middle East, has previously taken works by Almuslim and transformed them, with the female empowerment fantasy series “Rise of The Witches” being one such example. This series is being promoted as the most expensive Saudi Arabian TV production to date.

Al-Omair expressed great joy about teaming up with Osamah Almuslim, whose widespread fame throughout the Arab world offers a thrilling prospect as well as a test,” stated Al-Omair in his announcement.

I’m captivated by his extraordinary storytelling technique that seamlessly blends suspense, mystery, horror, mythical elements, and local traditions. In this exciting journey, I aspire to explore these narrative styles and expand the boundaries of Saudi cinema.

The exciting “Traveller’s Hell” project is set to begin filming around mid-2025, and the secretive shooting locations will be in Saudi Arabia. The script for this production will be penned by Almuslim. At present, there’s no news about who will be cast in the movie.

The collaboration between MBC Studios and author Almuslim, who has published over 30 locally acclaimed books since his debut novel “Khof” (“Fear”) was released in 2015 and promptly became a bestseller, is part of a broader plan to transform more of his novels into both television and movie adaptations, as suggested by the statement.

Almuslim expressed his excitement about the upcoming collaboration with MBC Group, signifying the beginning of a collection of ventures delving into the vast universe he has developed over the last ten years.

He mentioned that his work has attracted a substantial audience throughout the Arab region, and he’s thrilled because soon, those beloved tales will transition from pages into live-action on the screen.
