Sarah Silverman Sets Netflix Comedy Special ‘Postmortem,’ About the Death of Her Parents

Sarah Silverman is returning to Netflix with her second stand-up special for the streamer.

As a film enthusiast, I’m excited to share that the upcoming comedy special I’ll be part of is titled “Postmortem.” This heartfelt yet hilarious production will find me exploring the complexities of grieving my beloved parents. Catch it exclusively on Netflix starting May 20th.

After losing both her parents, comedian Sarah Silverman discovers humor in life’s most challenging aspects. She humorously tackles the peculiarities of death using her unique sense of wit, from stumbling upon an unexpected bargain while arranging their funerals to savoring the poignant moment of hearing her mother’s final words.

At the Beacon Theatre in New York City, “Sarah Silverman: Postmortem” was both directed and executive-produced by Sarah Silverman herself. Amy Zvi and John Skidmore of Best Kept Secret Productions served as the film’s producers.

In her career, Silverman has released several comedy specials. Her most recent one on Netflix was “Speck of Dust,” which came out in 2017. She’s also produced specials for HBO, such as “We Are Miracles” from 2013 and the upcoming “Someone You Love,” scheduled for release in 2023.

In the 21st century, Sarah Silverman, one of the most renowned stand-up comedians, began her career as a writer and cast member on “Saturday Night Live” in the mid-90s. Later, she starred in her own series, “The Sarah Silverman Program,” which aired on Comedy Central from 2007 to 2010. Subsequently, she hosted the political talk show “I Love You, America With Sarah Silverman” on Hulu from 2017 to 2018. The aim of this program was to bridge the gap and foster understanding between individuals with contrasting views.

As a passionate cinephile, I can proudly boast an impressive array of film and television projects that bear my name. From the rockin’ “School of Rock” to the poignant “Take This Waltz,” the quirky “A Million Ways to Die in the West,” the animated delight “Wreck-It Ralph,” and the intriguing “Maestro,” each project has added a unique chapter to my cinematic journey.
