Sand was delayed. Developers of this Steam Next Fest hit changed release date at the last minute

During Steam Next Fest‘s final days, sand was among the most popular games. At its peak, over 4000 players tested it (as reported by SteamDB). This is a significant number for an indie game. The game transports us to a post-apocalyptic world and lets us control colossal walkers. It offers a fresh perspective on extraction shooter games. Consequently, it’s no surprise that people are eager to learn more about its final outcome. Previously, the developers had revealed the specific release date for the game, but it now appears that their plans have shifted.

Sand developers want to polish the game

Recently, developers shared an update about the upcoming release of the game Sand on platforms like Steam (and others). As stated in their post, the initial launch date needs to be pushed back because there’s more work needed to be done. The creators plan to focus on improving optimization and enhancing the core gameplay during this additional time.

It appears that this announcement was met with general approval, as players generally find the decision positive and are eagerly anticipating the improved version of the game. The delay must have been a difficult challenge for Hologryph studios, given it came just days before the expected release date (April 3rd, 2025), meaning they were working right up until the last moment.

Unfortunately, there’s no news yet on when the developers plan to release the new version. Fingers crossed, it should arrive sooner rather than later! It’s wise to exercise patience and wait for a well-crafted product instead of settling for one that may not meet our expectations. So let’s remain patient and stay tuned.
