As a seasoned movie critic with a penchant for recognizing cinematic brilliance, I must say that the news of Samuel L. Jackson joining J.J. Abrams’ new project has sent shivers of excitement down my spine! With a career spanning over four decades and an unparalleled knack for delivering electrifying performances, Jackson is a powerhouse actor who effortlessly brings authenticity to every role he takes on.
Samuel L. Jackson is in talks to star in the next movie from director J.J. Abrams.
If the agreement goes through, he’ll be part of an ensemble that features Glen Powell, Jenna Ortega, Emma Mackey from “Sex Education”, among others. J.J. Abrams is responsible for both writing and directing this project, whose specifics are currently confidential. The production company founded by Abrams, Bad Robot, will be involved in the project as a producer.
Warner Bros. is supporting the upcoming movie that’s set to begin filming in the UK this coming spring. However, it’s yet to be determined when exactly the film will be released in cinemas.
In terms of his directorial work, this new project marks J.J. Abrams’ return since the release of “Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker” in 2019, which concluded the nine-part series with a $1 billion gross at worldwide box offices. Previously, he has also directed hits like “Mission: Impossible III,” “Star Trek,” and “Super 8.” As a producer, Abrams has been involved with films such as “Cloverfield” and its sequels, in addition to three installments of the “Mission: Impossible” series.
This year, Jackson played the lead role in Netflix’s adaptation of August Wilson’s play “The Piano Lesson,” where he reprised his character Doaker Charles from the 2022 Broadway revival. He also starred in Matthew Vaughn’s movie “Argylle” and the Peacock miniseries “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist.” Known for his Oscar-nominated role in “Pulp Fiction,” Jackson has an extensive filmography that includes “Jackie Brown,” “Django Unchained,” M. Night Shyamalan’s “Unbreakable,” “Shaft,” “Snakes on a Plane,” and portraying Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Hollywood Reporter broke the news of Jackson’s casting.
