Samuel L. Jackson Opens ‘Sunday Night Football’ Chiefs-Falcons Game to Boost Peacock Series

As a lifelong fan of both sports and cinema, I can hardly contain my excitement for tonight’s Chiefs-Falcons match-up! The fact that Samuel L. Jackson, a man who’s been in more iconic films than hot dogs have been at a baseball game, is part of the cinematic opening sequence just adds an extra layer of anticipation.

Samuel L. Jackson will lend a boost to Sunday night’s Chiefs-Falcons match-up on NBC.

Tonight, the actor famous for movies like “Pulp Fiction,” “Patriot Games,” and “Glass” will appear in a cinematic opening segment for the “Sunday Night Football” telecast on NBC and the Peacock streaming platform.

Jackson appears in the cast of “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist,” an upcoming limited series available on Peacock. This production is overseen by executive producers Will Packer and Kevin Hart, and features Jackson, along with Kevin Hart, Taraji P. Henson, Don Cheadle, and Terrence Howard in the main roles.

The TV show is inspired by a real-life true-crime podcast from iHeart and narrates the events surrounding an armed robbery that took place on the night of Muhammad Ali’s iconic 1970 comeback fight in Atlanta, Georgia. This incident significantly impacted the city’s economy and culture. In the story, the character played by Hart is a street-smart hustler known as “Chicken Man,” who organizes an exclusive afterparty for the rich and famous following the fight. However, the night takes a turn with a daring theft. Chicken Man stands accused of orchestrating the crime, but he sets out to prove his innocence, despite facing opposition from his old enemy, J.D. Hudson (portrayed by Cheadle), one of Atlanta’s first Black detectives in a post-segregation police force, who is tasked with solving the case.

On September 5, 2024, the initial three installments of “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist” were broadcast, with each subsequent episode airing every Thursday thereafter on Peacock.

Back in the groovy ’60s, I was the guy hawking popcorn, peanuts, and refreshments at the Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium, home of the Falcons. Kickoff to my day usually started with a heartfelt chat about football, sharing my passion for the game, and offering some insights on what was shaping up to be an exciting match.
