Initially, May 4th was a special occasion merely cherished by dedicated Star Wars enthusiasts. Yet, it has evolved into what essentially feels like an authentic Star Wars holiday, with Lucasfilm frequently organizing various activities to mark the event. Over time, the scope of celebration has broadened significantly. Even two days post-May 4th, Mace Windu himself, Samuel L. Jackson, continues to join in the festivities.
If Sunday was May the Fourth, then that makes Tuesday Revenge of the Sixth. It’s an especially fitting day of celebration considering this year marks the 20th anniversary of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, and somebody set up Samuel L. Jackson with a sweet shirt that he’s showing off on Instagram. Now I need to track it down.

A brief check shows that the shirt seemed to be on sale as merchandise at the latest Star Wars Celebration held in Japan. If by chance someone bought an additional one and is willing to send it, feel free to reach out to me.
In the realm of popular franchises, few can rival Star Wars when it comes to assembling talented actors and captivating characters. However, among all these illustrious individuals, it’s hard to imagine anyone relishing their Star Wars experience more than Samuel L. Jackson. He has fondly reminisced about the thrill he experienced donning his Jedi robes and selecting his lightsaber. Moreover, Jackson has been vocal about his belief that Mace Windu survived the ordeals of Revenge of the Sith. It’s evident that he longs for another opportunity to be a part of Star Wars once more.
To put it simply, if anyone’s Star Wars celebration is dragging on for an extended period, like two whole days, that person would likely be Samuel L. Jackson. Given his ardent love for Star Wars, he might just be the most devoted fan out there.
Apart from Jackson, Bryce Dallas Howard, known for directing episodes of the Disney+ Star Wars TV series, has expressed her interest in directing a Star Wars spinoff featuring Jackson’s return as Windu. She’s reportedly discussed this idea with Dave Filoni, Lucasfilm’s Chief Creative Officer, but it remains uncertain if this is something that could actually materialize.
It’s possible that the impressive box office performance of “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith” during its recent re-release could serve as a compelling argument to Lucasfilm, suggesting there may be further potential with those characters. Typically, re-releases don’t make significant impact at the box office, but “Revenge of the Sith” surpassed the opening weekend earnings of “The Accountant 2,” indicating the strong affection for the movie and the broader franchise.
It seems like there’s no day of the month this year that can rhyme with any other “Star Wars” titles for the May the Fourth celebration. However, we’re not done with enjoying this franchise as we’ll still have new episodes of “Andor,” and next year, we’ll get “The Mandalorian & Grogu,” marking a return of a “Star Wars” movie to theaters in years. It’s clear that our love for this franchise isn’t going to fade away anytime soon.
