As I reflect back on my cinematic experience with Die Hard, a particular quote from the office scene has stuck with me: “Beware of the toes you step on today, for they could belong to the person you’ll have to kiss tomorrow.” Consequently, I’ve been extra courteous towards production assistants and everyone else on set, knowing that kindness can sometimes lead to unexpected favors down the line.

Some of those Production Assistants (PAs) eventually rose to become producers and offered me jobs, since they often remarked, “I recall when I was a PA on various projects, and you never pressured me or made me fetch items. You always spoke to me daily.” In essence, it’s not much, but remember to be kind to the lighting crew member, as one day you might find yourself in the dark without their help.
