Texas-born actor Samuel French, famed for his portrayal of FBI agent CJ Robinson in “Killers of the Flower Moon,” passed away this morning in Waco, Texas after a prolonged struggle with cancer. He was just 45 years old.
1980 saw the birth of an individual who spent his early childhood years in Clifton, Texas, following his family’s relocation there at the age of three. After completing high school in this small town, he ventured to Austin and later Dallas, where he earned his first acting credits on shows such as “Texas Rising” and “Fear the Walking Dead,” playing the character “Ben.” Additionally, he has appeared in films like “Pegasus: Pony With a Broken Wing,” “The Pro Bono Watchman,” and is slated for a role in the 2024 crime thriller “Blood Dried Hands.

In a heartfelt statement posted on Instagram, Sinacore reminisced about our shared creative journey, expressing that ‘Towpath’ wouldn’t have seen the light of day without Samuel’s invaluable contribution. The raw, unbridled passion he poured into the character of Detective Bernard Crooke not only defined the film’s tone but also left an indelible mark on every frame – unadulterated, courageous, and electrifying. Each scene showcases Samuel’s burning love for acting, a flame that shines through in every frame.
He poured all of himself into his work, and it shone through brilliantly. I’m profoundly sorrowful about his passing, wishing he could have witnessed the finished product. He was unique in every way, and his memory will be treasured forever within our hearts. My sympathies are with his family, but most especially his daughter; their bond was strong, and he spoke of her frequently with admiration and affection.
