Salma Hayek Communing With Bugs Won Late Night This Week

Initially, let’s discuss the late-night television figure who exposed a degree of vulnerability this week: Guillermo, the assistant on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, has been recovering from a basketball injury. In an unguarded backstage moment, the camera focused quite closely on his feet, which were displayed in full view. Boldly adding himself to wikiFeet, that’s the epitome of bravery.

This week, Guillermo’s misfortune was finding “Amyl and the Sniffers” opting for “Tiny Bikini” on The Tonight Show as their song. While the performance was enjoyable in its own way, given the small size of the bikini, I can’t help but feel that they should have played their viral hit, “Jerkin’,” instead. Despite the fact that the profanity would be censored, isn’t that part of the charm of late-night shows – the unexpected and often bleeped content? Kudos to Amy Taylor for rocking her small flip-flop bikini!

Kimmel the Company Man

Jimmy Kimmel took a break this week, with part of the reason being Upfronts Week and also because he’s soon to become a grandfather. A big congratulations to the entire Kimmel family! In an innovative move, they decided to combine these two events by allowing corporate sponsors to name the grandchild if any are interested. As Jimmy humorously noted in this video for ABC’s Upfront presentation, it has been a long-standing tradition at Disney to sell their essence to the highest bidder. You can see this reflected in the opening-day attraction at Disneyland, Hollywood-Maxwell’s Intimate Apparel Shop featuring the Wizard of Bras. Sharing the Upfront presentation on YouTube really emphasizes how late-night hosts serve as a mascot for their international corporations. It’s a charming custom.

The Death of Saymo

On Wednesday night, the show “Everybody’s Live With John Mulaney” was a classic to remember. Lamorne Morris presented a Nation of Islam conspiracy theory as a song. Alanis Morissette made jokes about motherhood. Jeremy Levick led a blindfolded Mulaney around the stage, which Mulaney found irritating. Mulaney suggested that perhaps if Steve Guttenberg needs a CPAP machine to survive, he should simply let himself pass away. It’s food for thought! Watching Mulaney’s robot mascot, Saymo, take a tumble on an Evel Knievel ramp will undoubtedly haunt my dreams for years.

Stephen Colbert’s Pope Intel

The entire United States, particularly Chicago, is continuing to celebrate the election of the progressive American Pope. However, “The Late Show” provided unique insights by discussing what truly occurred within the secluded conclave meetings. Father James Martin, who facilitated comedians’ meeting with Pope Francis last year, has a connection with the Pope and may even have his email. Additionally, he received exclusive information from the College of Cardinals. Moreover, he is known for his humor, making him an excellent choice for Colbert’s show.

Adam Pally and Jon Gabrus Are the Court Jesters of the Manosphere

The electrifying energy that Adam Pally and Jon Gabrus brought to Late Night With Seth Meyers was simply delightful. From Pally’s jab at late-night shows being on their last legs (even though he said so himself) to a prolonged debate about the controversial drug ketamine, it was an exceptional performance. It seems that Meyers enjoys watching them interact in increasingly eccentric manners, which appears to be a significant part of their professional lives now. I won’t reveal the clever ending touch Meyers added to the segment, but such moments are what make him the best-of-the-best when it comes to hosting late-night guest interactions.

Divas Recognize Divas on The Tonight Show

It turned out that “Salma Hayek interacting with insects” was my most enjoyed watch of the week, which I didn’t anticipate, but it’s not entirely unexpected given my fondness for her unique anecdotes. Her pet owl’s incident with Harry Styles is just one example! This particular animal segment on late-night television truly excels in fostering a connection with nature. Hayek and Jimmy Fallon both exhibit initial apprehension, but when scientist Alie Ward presents a mantis and a beetle, Hayek seems to develop an affinity for these creatures. The mantis appears enamored by her, as one would expect from a lethal charmer. Furthermore, the way Hayek gazes into the beetle’s strange eyes is nothing short of spiritual. It’s almost as if she’s saying, “Hey little bug, you live for a year and I was underutilized on 30 Rock. And yet, here we are, sharing this planet and this moment in time. Isn’t that amazing?” Indeed, it is quite extraordinary.
